66 GQ Ultrablack Cross Cows & 46 Calves at Foot. Majority Exhibit Good Bone, Length, Depth and Frame, with good feet & are quiet. They are only being sold due to change in direction of breeding program, they are not culls. There are 41 Vendor Bred No.5 Heifers & 25 bought Cows that were purchased 2 years ago. The 24 x Wet No.5 Heifers weighed 293 – 477kg to av 375.6kg. The 17 x PTIC No.5 Heifers weighed 368 – 564kg to av 501.5kg. The 22 x Wet Cows weighed 470 – 596kg to av 535.1kg. The 3 x PTIC Cows weighed 506 – 656kg to av 592kg. The 20 x PTIC Heifers/Cows are all 4 – 8 months PTIC at assessment. The Cows were weighed after 4 hours off feed & water. I mouthed 20 of the 25 Cows as they don’t have age brands. I didn’t mouth the 2 x No.8’s or the 1 x No.9 Cow as they should be sound. There were 7 x Cows with evenly worn teeth & 1 x Cow that was sound but missing 1 tooth. Cows are best described as mixed/middle aged cows with no shelly, old crackers in them. The calves are all cleanskins & weighed 51 – 253 kg to av 169 kg with 18 Males & 28 Heifers. They are sired by VGQ Santa & Ultrablack (joined to Heifers) as well as Charolais, Angus, Black Simmental & Simmental Bulls (joined to Cows). Cows have been running continuously with same Bulls.
