844 good medium to large frame 7 & 8 year old unjoined Mt Ascot & Barcaldine Downs blood merino ewes with 11 months wool. Of the 156 head mouthed, 75 were GSM although slightly worn, 46 were evenly worn towards the gums & 35 were broken. Approx. 6% were missing one or both ears. Due to their age, there was a % of ewes with scaly ears or noses. Several ewes had black pigmentation on their nose or lips. These ewes are proven breeders & survivors having spent most of their life in drought or below average seasonal conditions. They are mostly good strong ewes with good quality & style about them. 63% have lambs at foot that will be taken off the ewes at delivery. They are in store to forward store condition with approximately 10% in backward store condition due to looking after their lambs. The ewes are going back into their same paddock with good fresh feed. I suggest to load on 10 decks if travelling long distance. Three ewes observed with broken wool.
